Indian Feudalism

Indian Feudalism
The politico-economic system that existed in India during 800-1200 came to be identified by many modern histo-rians as a type of feudalism that, though not identical with the feudal system of western Europe, did include features such as the presence of a peasantry largely tied to the land and the presence of feudatories that collected revenue from land granted to them by the king and maintained military contingents from this income that they were duty-bound to furnish for the service of the king. This system largely collapsed with the rise of the Delhi sultanate, which had a tendency toward centralization of resources as well as of political authority.
